Land Risk Assessment

Slope Stability

If your property falls within the Erosion Management Overlay (EMO), it is required that prior to obtaining building permits, a slope stability assessment be carried out.

This slope stability assessment known as a 'Geotechnical Assessment, and the more complex 'Landslide Risk Assessment', are carried out in accordance with the Australian Geomechanics Society standard AGS (2007c).

The Dandenongs and Upper Yarra Ranges region have a large number of documented natural landslips or areas prone to landslip.  Man-made slope instability issues have also been documneted within the City of Moreland.

Whether naturally formed or man-made, a comprehensive site investigation will determine whether your proposed design and construction method is safe and feasible.

These assessments will provide recommendations regarding how to construct on a sloping piece of land with specific attention paid to foundations, retaining structures, batters, cuts and fills etc.

However, you need not be in the Yarra Ranges or Moreland, or even
on a steep block of land for instability to be an issue.  Instability
can be caused on a flat piece of land if safe eatherworks are not
carried out.

Our experts can ensure that your site is safe to work on.
